Middelplaas (49 km) and Bokwagtershuis (47,5 km) are  holiday homes, situated in Matjiesvlei at the foothills of the Swartberg mountain range, near Calitzdorp.  The spectacular mountain views along with the mixed farming activities of the valley provide a tranquil atmosphere.  The hustle and bustle of city life melt away - the perfect place to relax and unwind.  All three cottages have very nice verandas overlooking the veld.

Things to do in Matjiesvlei:  fly-fishing in the Gamka river; walking in the valley and veld; mountain biking on valley roads; bird watching; swimming and paddling on the river; no quad bikes or jet skis are allowed.

 Location:  District.  Turn-off 40 km from Ladismith on Route 62, 5,6 km from Calitzdorp.  The turn-off is clearly marked (GPS S33 29.767; E21 38.925).  Once on the gravel road, carry on for 7 km till reaching a T-junction (GPS 33 26.878; E21 38.845).   To go to Middelplaas, turn left at T-junction.  Continue along the road. Middelplaas is 2 km further on the left (GPS S33 26.564; E 21 37.887).   To go to Die Bokwagtershuis or Die Stalle, turn right at the T-junction.  Continue for about 600m.  The signs for  Die Bokwagtershuis  as well as Die Stalle are on the fence to the left (GPS 33 26.882; E 21 39.070).  Use the gate to the right of the sign for Die Bokwagtershuis (GPS 33 26.861; S21 39.070) and the gate to the left for Die Stalle (GPS 33.26.820;E21 29.105).

                              Die Stalle  -3 bedrooms (1 double & 4 single beds) - sleeps 6.  Two bedrooms have a Queen Anne stove.  Bathroom with bath, shower, basin and flush toilet.  In the kitchenette are a basin, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, kettle and toaster.  A 2-plate on-counter stove is on the stoep, which also has a built-in braai, serving as a dining room/lounge.
